About

Naomi Gale - Empowering the feminine through the lens

Ceremonial photography for conscious souls in kent, sussex, London and Beyond.

Based in Margate, Kent right next to the coast, I spend my time empowering the feminine-whether within my home with my three children (twins and my son)- or with those who choose to dance with me on a 1-1.

My work is rooted. I spend much time dancing within the pelvis through my work as a holistic women’s health expert, and full-spectrum doula.

Within this work, I encourage clients to dance in front of the lens. It captures exactly where you are, and is a tool we can lean on.

My focus is working with those who are aware that having a shoot is more than the images- it’s the experience. It’s what it means. It’s the grief of what was- before stepping into the now. It’s the acknowledgement that life will never be as it is in that very moment. And that moment is being captured through a rooted approach.

And so it is

Every part of the journey to the images landing in the inbox is part of this ceremonial approach.

There are reflection forms with intentions before our time together. Together, we work with somatic tools to land into space. Afterwards, touchpoints remind you to return to your body before witnessing yourself in front of the lens.

You see, the lens saved me from my own challenge of body dysmorphia. After having children, I spent time in front of the lens. My body carried twins and it was time to acknowledge the edges of my body.

I understand what it means to be in front of the lens. This is why my photography work focuses on tending to our nervous system and the documentary of the moment.

photography for me

My grandma was photograph-obsessed. She had cupboards, wardrobes and draws filled with photos. She travelled the world in her crone years and captured it all.

We spent hours together with our cameras. Ya know, back in the day when we only used 35mm.

(I work with digital and 35mm depending on your preference).

I have always been asked to take photos of friends. I used photography to sell handmade items on Instagram. I took courses in ‘flatlay styling’. Then I was asked by companies such as GAP and smaller handmade businesses to photograph my children in their items.

Then I would religiously book shoots for myself for my own business while using creative selfies to explore my body.

When I realised I wanted to capture births as a doula for clients- I bought my dream camera. People began asking me to take photos of them pregnant and of their families. Doula clients were then asking me to take their business headshots. A friend asked me to capture her sister’s wedding. It unfolded. To be asked to capture people is a gift.

Over the years I spent much of my time exploring the edges of my own body in boudoir style shoots. This healed my relationship with my body.

My favourite subjects are women. I adore witnessing people through the lens while holding them in the space we create together.

You can find my business. published book and podcast here. And you can find me cheerleading women through the lens on this site right here.

Holding you, celebrating you. Always.
